This veriosn is the classic and most similar to the pub and club fruit machine loved by many in the UK during the late 1980’s and 1990’s. You can play classic cops and robbers online for free below and read our full review. You can also play for real money at one of the recommended UK casinos listed further down this page.
Unfortunately you can’t play the best version which we believe to be club cops n robbers online. The best option and as close as it gets is playing safecracker which is available at Grosvenor Casino.
All About Club Cops n Robbers
This is the most loved version of all cops n robbers machines ever made. The early 1990’s saw an explosion in snooker clubs, pool halls, rugby clubs and any other so called private members clubs as they all embraced the gambling phenomenon of club cops n robbers.
For the clubs this machine paved the way for a generation of gamblers, and was such a huge boost to business that every club had 2 machines which at the time was the maximum allowed under licensing laws.
A friend of mine who ran 2 snooker halls made more money in a single day from a club gambling machine than he would all Month from hiring the tales by the hour to snooker fans. The money to be made by the club was mind blowing, and it was cops n robbers that paved the way for other fruit machines which although popular never quite had the same status as the cops machine did.
Playing The Game
This was a 4 reel fruit machine with 1 inline. A far cry from modern slots but that’s all we got back then! The game had holds and nudges but all of this came second to the main aim. One thing of not was if you held 3 symbols such as cherries and they held 3 times on the 3rd opportunity you should let it spin. This made a win of 3 symbols (the ones you held) drop in.
Club cops n robbers used classic fruit symbols such as cherries, lemons, melons along with bells. Being a bell fruits game that makes complete sense.
For every win you could gamble, and the aim was to gamble high enough to exchange for the feature board. Wins were awarded for 3 matching symbols left to right and for 4 left across the win line which was in the middle of the reels. When you got nudges you could push your face against the slightly warm glass and look up and importantly behind the reels to see what was available to nudge down. We all looked a bit insane while doing this but it was a good trick to have up your sleeve
